Fun for the Whole Family
Preschool Life Magazine founder, Kelly Rush, had dreams of reaching beyond her scope of parents with preschool age children. She wanted to highlight the city she grew up in, while helping other parents explore all that the greater Madison area has to offer families. With that goal in mind, the Madison with Kids Annual Guide was born.
Mindy had the opportunity to work with Kelly on this project from the ground up. “We started with logo design, establishing a visual brand and color scheme that were fun and kid-friendly, but in a way that would get parents’ attention,” she remembers. Kelly’s goal was to appeal visually to both moms and dads in order to get as many parents as possible to pick up this free resource guide. Kelly also created and maintains an online resource guide under the same name, so the visual brand had to work for web, print and larger formats, such as car decals and the like.
In the end, Kelly’s vision for exposing family-friendly activities and happenings in a fun and practical resource guide came to fruition as a 32-page magazine. She reports that every time she looks at the cover, she’s very proud and thankful for Mindy's talent. Further, she attributes the attractive and eye-catching cover to why she has a hard time re-stocking copies that fly off the shelves all over town.
